We are looking forward to SHS Winterfest 2021, a FairyTale "Mask-erade!" Join us Tuesday-Saturday, Feb. 16-20 for a week full of events!

Dress Up Days

Tuesday, Feb. 16: Sleeping Beauty - pajama day
Wednesday, Feb. 17: Red Riding Hood - wear red
Thursday, Feb. 18: Alice in Wonderland - crazy hair and clothing
Friday, Feb. 19: Cinderella - formal/fancy attire

This year's Winterfest Pep Assembly, hosted by the student council, will be on Friday, Feb. 19 at 4 p.m. Join us virtually!

Mr. SHS

This year’s Mr. SHS will be a free virtual show on Friday, Feb. 19 at 7:00 p.m., with pre-show starting at 6:45 p.m. All Mr. SHS contestants will compete in the areas of talent, school spirit and best dressed. Audience members will also see the group dance.

Additionally, SENIORS are invited to purchase tickets in advance to view Mr. SHS by drive-in. Please note that the viewing will be limited to the first 100 sign-ups and costs $5 per car. Tickets are available now. Drive-in attendees will receive a free cookie and popcorn, along with the option of pre-ordering pizza.

“Wheels and Reels"

The Student Council is hosting a “Wheels and Reels” event on the SHS campus in celebration of this year’s Winterfest Week! For $5 per car, SHS students and families may drive to campus to watch the Disney movie Moana. This event will take place in Parking Lot B on Saturday, Feb. 20, with the first showing at 5:30 p.m. and the second showing at 8:30 p.m.

Light Show

For three days and three days during Winterfest week, students, families and community members are invited to enjoy a spectacular night with music and colorful lights from the comfort of their car. This event will take place on:

Thursday, Feb. 18 from 5:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Friday, Feb 19 - Saturday, Feb. 20 from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m.

This event is free but reserving a time slot to attend is required.

When you arrive, be sure to tune into 89.9 FM to hear the sounds of DJ Marquee & My Boom Tour while driving through the Light Show!

Class Board Activities

Senior Tie-Dye Face Mask Making: The senior class board is hosting a mask-making party on Tuesday, Feb. 16 from 4-5 p.m. Seniors needed to pre-register by Feb. 12 for this event which can be attended virtually or in-person and registration is now closed. Seniors who want to attend virtually and have already registered can pick-up their materials in the Forum on Friday, Feb. 12 from 4-5 p.m. They will also receive the link to participate over Zoom after registering.

Junior Jeopardy Game Night: Teams of 5-6 juniors are invited to sign up to compete in a virtual Jeopardy Game Night. Interested contestants need to register by Wednesday, Feb. 17 for this event which will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18.

Sophomore Cake Decorating Competition: Those interested in the Cake Decorating Competition can go solo or decorate with a (socially distanced) group of friends, but virtual submissions need to be sent in by Saturday, Feb. 20. Cakes should be decorated with Winterfest's FairyTale "Mask-erade" theme.

Freshman Cookie Decorating Contest: Students who want to compete in the freshman class board Cookie Decorating Contest need to complete this Cookie Contest Interest Form by Friday, Feb. 12. Supplies will be provided and judging will occur on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 4:30 p.m. A group of 8-10 students will be selected to compete after submission and a gift card prize will be awarded.

Pass on the Beat Musical Fun
Pass on the Beat is hosting 2 fun musical activities... Name that Tune and Unscramble the Lyrics. Please join us Wednesday, Feb. 17 from 3:45-4:45 p.m. via Zoom.

PPA Treat Days
As a Winterfest treat, the PPA (Patriot Parent Association) is offering students a free bag of freshly baked mini chocolate chip cookies. Students were sent an email with this offer and to redeem the free cookies, they or a family member should present a hardcopy of the email (a photo on a cell phone won't be accepted) to the bakery department or service desk at Sunset Foods in Long Grove. This offer can be redeemed anytime between Tuesday, Feb. 16, and Sunday, Feb. 21.
