See more details in the 2021 Commencement tab.
We are so excited to share that graduation will be coming back “home” to NOW Arena (formerly Sears Centre) on Friday, May 28! We understand what a milestone moment this is for our families, so we’re thrilled to provide a commencement experience that is as close to normal as possible.
Here are the details – Graduation is now scheduled to be a series of two commencement ceremonies at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and graduates may bring six guests. Students will be assigned to a ceremony time based on their counselor:
Additionally, both ceremonies will be live-streamed via the Stevenson D125 YouTube channel.
Rehearsal: Though we have held rehearsals in previous years, we will not be holding a rehearsal this year.
Other key details that our families should know:
Tickets: Each graduate will receive six tickets, which seniors MUST PICK UP IN PERSON in the Forum on Monday, May 24, and Tuesday, May 25 from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Each ticket will have an assigned section number so that guests will have the ability to sit with their group while being socially distanced from others. Guests will not be allowed to enter without a ticket. Tickets should not be shared with other families as this will not allow for social distancing between households. Do not lose your tickets as they cannot be reprinted. Please ignore all information on the ticket except ceremony time and assigned section. Rows and seats are not relevant for your graduation ceremony.
Seating assignments: Students received an email from Dr. Ted Goergen with their unique seat and section assignments, which are organized by counselor. Please refer to that email sent on May 19. Families will be directed to the section assignment listed on their tickets.
- Directions: The NOW Arena is located in the Prairie Stone Business Park, 5333 Prairie Stone Parkway, Hoffman Estates, IL 60192, immediately north of the Northwest Tollway and west of Illinois Route 59.
- From the East: Take I-90 West (Northwest Tollway) to the New Sutton Road (Route 59) exit and go straight. The building will be on your right.
- From the West: Take I-90 (Northwest Tollway) to the New Sutton Road (Route 59) exit. Turn left onto New Sutton Road and go north to the next traffic light. At the light, make a left turn into Hoffman Boulevard. The building will be on your right.
Parking and arrivals: Families may arrive one hour prior to the ceremony time. NOW Arena is allowing families to arrive in two cars maximum. Graduates may enter through Door 11 immediately upon arrival. At this entrance, graduates will walk through metal detectors. Please have your gown unzipped to expedite the screening process along. Guests can enter the arena through the main entrance.
- Accessibility for guests with disabilities: Accessible seating will be available; however wheelchair escorts and wheelchairs will not be available for guests.
Photos and diplomas: Photos will be taken by VIP and posted for purchase on their website approximately two weeks after the ceremony. Diplomas will be mailed home after graduation. Any fines must be paid prior to the diploma being mailed.
Safety: Masking and social distancing (except among family members) will be strictly enforced. NOW Arena has also implemented a “clear bag policy,” which limits the size of bags entering the arena and requires the majority of bags to be clear to streamline the security screening process and avoid unnecessary wait times to enter the venue. Exceptions will be made for medical, family, or child care bags or small clutches no larger than 4.5”x6.5”. No outside food or beverages are allowed with the exception of water and snacks for young children and babies.
See the email from Student Activities Director Dr. Ted Goergen for more information. If you would like to request that you and your family attend the alternate graduation ceremony due to extenuating circumstances, please contact Dr. Ted Goergen.
