Diversity Council | World's Fair (DIVCO)
Diversity Council (DivCo)’s mission is to foster intercultural respect and appreciation, amplify student voices to make tangible change and educate about current events, cultural issues, and traditions. Through weekly meeting discussions, activities and creative projects, we seek to make our school a more inclusive environment for all students. DivCo coordinates HEARD, a monthly initiative that serves as a conduit between the student body and administration to discuss racial incidents occurring within the SHS community. Our meaningful conversations strive to improve Stevenson’s attention towards equity and promote the acceptance of all races through concrete action items. DivCo also organizes several events annually, the largest being World’s Fair with over 7,000 attendees each year. This two-day celebration of cultures features booths, performances, food, music and much more! It is one of Stevenson’s most treasured traditions.
Stevenson’s Diversity Council will be hosting the annual World’s Fair again this year! Booths and performances will be held virtually on Friday, April 23 to ensure the safest experience for our attendees. This year there will be 18 booths from around the world, including countries across Asia, the Americas and Europe, along with eight performances from India, South Korea, China and Mongolia! Attendees get the chance to win prizes/food from booths, enter raffles for official World's Fair t-shirts, and more! And the best part? It’s entirely free to attend! Booths will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. while performances are 6:30-7:30 p.m., for which links and other information can be found below.
