Fei Shang

A 15-year resident of Long Grove, Fei Shang joined the Stevenson Board of Education in 2020 to bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to her family’s high school.

Fei is a senior investment strategy consultant for public and private pensions, endowments, and foundations. She has over twenty years of experience in asset management for institutional and individual investors. Fei currently works for Aon Investments USA and has a wide array of experience both in the United States and Asia.

Fei enjoys serving on the school board to give a voice and representation to the 34% Asian population at Stevenson. She works diligently on the school board to ensure that students are given a socially responsible environment in which to learn, thrive, and grow as individuals. She also contributes her time serving on the Stevenson Foundation Board and the Foundation’s Finance Committee.

When she isn’t working or attending to school board business, Fei enjoys spending quality time with her family, swimming, golfing, and reading. Fei and her husband, Xin Jiang, have a daughter who is a senior at Stevenson. Fei earned her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Petroleum in China and an MBA from DePaul. She has been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) since 2004.

Development and Training Completed

All Illinois school board members must receive training in professional development leadership (P.A. 97-8) and the Open Meetings Act (P.A. 97-504). Mandatory training will also be required after the new teacher evaluation requirements are implemented in each school district. The Illinois Association of School Boards is a voluntary organization of local boards of education dedicated to strengthening the public schools through local citizen control. Although not a part of state government, IASB is organized by member school boards as a private non-for-profit corporation under authority granted by Article 23 of The Illinois School Code. The vision of IASB is excellence in local school board governance supporting quality public education.
