Asian Pacific Islander and Desi-American Week 2023
Stevenson’s APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander & Desi American) Student Council aims to better represent and appreciate Asian cultures through education, form safe spaces through the acknowledgment of multiculturalism within the SHS community, and create opportunities for everyone to celebrate diversity.
Join us the week of April 24, 2023, as we introduce aspects of competition, communication, culture, and conversation (respectively). All proceeds from this week will be donated to the HANA Center, an organization aimed at empowering Asian American and multiethnic communities via education, culture, etc. to drive systemic change. Each day will have its own Lunchtime Activities and after-school event, so we hope to see you there!
The APIDA (Asian, Pacific Islander, or Desi-American) council has created a website of resources for students that includes APIDA affiliated faculty directory, staff recommendations, community and SHS organizations/clubs, and a list of media representation. Their goal is to help build community within the APIDA students, bring awareness to those who may not know much about the community, and facilitate cultural appreciation events. Check it out!
