Tryout Information

Tryout Dates

• Start Date: Nov. 7, 2022
• Freshman Tryouts will be in the Fieldhouse from 3:30-6 pm, Monday, November 7th and Tuesday, November 8th.
• Sophomore Tryouts will be in the Sportscenter from 3:30-6 PM beginning on November 7th.
• Varsity Tryouts will be in the Sportscenter from 3-6pm on November 7th.

Informational Meetings

• Freshmen interested in trying out for basketball are invited to attend a virtual informational meeting on Zoom( https://zoom.us/j/99783619562) on Wednesday, October 12th at 7:30 pm.  Contact Coach Gimre at kgimre@d125.org if you are unable to attend, or with questions.
• Sophomores interested in trying out for basketball are invited to attend a virtual informational meeting on zoom (https://zoom.us/j/99412289521) at 7:30 PM on October 12th.   Please Contact Coach Gustin at ngustin@d125.org AND Coach Zimmerman at jzimmerman@d125.org
• Juniors and Seniors interested in trying out for basketball are invited to attend a pre tryout meeting on Nov. 1st at 3:30 pm in the West Fitness Center. Contact Coach Ambrose at pambrose@d125.org.

Pat Ambrose is the winningest coach in Stevenson history, and he has guided the Patriots to the IHSA state finals four times and won the Class 4A state championship in 2015. His career record is 451-170 (.726), and his teams have never had a losing season. Ambrose's accomplishments include:

• 2014 IHSA 3rd Place in State
• 2013 IHSA 2nd Place in State
• 2007 IHSA 4th Place in State
• 4 IHSA Supersectional Championships
• 5 IHSA Sectional Championships
• 9 IHSA Regional Championships
• 8 North Suburban Conference Championships
• 2015-2016 IBCA Coach of the Year
• 2013-2014 IBCA Coach of the Year
• 2012-2013 IBCA Coach of the Year
• 2002-2003 Pioneer Press Coach of the Year
• Inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2020
• Coached All-State Athletes Jalen Brunson (First Team), Justin Smith (First Team), Connor Cashaw (Second Team), Matthew Ambrose (Honorable Mention)

Prior to joining Stevenson, Ambrose was an assistant coach at Proviso West and Hoffman Estates high schools.

As a player, Ambrose played four seasons at Augustana College. In high school, he was an all-conference and all-area player at Naperville North. In 2013 he was inducted into the Naperville North Hall of Fame.
