The Stevenson guitar program offers:
• Guitar Techniques 1: A comprehensive course that covers chords, reading music, and learning to jam with others. No experience/audition necessary.
• Guitar Techniques 2: This course is designed to teach intermediate techniques, solo music, and large group ensemble performances.
• Patriot Guitar Ensemble: This course covers advanced techniques, college level solo/ensemble music, and performance etiquette.

Guitar Program Auditions for Fall 2020
Due: Friday, April 17
Returning students and incoming freshman may audition for Guitar Techniques 2 and Patriot Guitar Ensemble. No audition is required for Guitar Techniques 1.
Guitar auditions for Guitar Techniques 2 and Patriot Guitar Ensemble will be done through video recordings. Videos are due by Friday, April 17. Here are the details on how to record and submit the audition video:
Camera and Mic Setup
Make sure that your face, guitar, and both hands are clearly visible in the video recording. You may record the video on an iPad, smartphone, or any other recording device; the higher quality the better. If you have an external microphone please use it, however this is not required. Record in a quiet space with little to no background noise. Make sure your guitar is in tune.
- 2 Octave G Major Scale
- 1 exercise from the Rhythm Component Worksheet (in the audition packet; click here), demonstrating good rhythm (60 bpm minimum) and chord changes. Guitar Techniques 2 - Example 1 or 2; Patriot Guitar Ensemble - Example 3, 4, or 5.
- Prepared repertoire. Guitar Techniques 2 - Carulli or Tarrega; Patriot Guitar Ensemble - Pachelbel or Brouwer.
Video Submission (Deadline is 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 17)
Please share your video with Mr. Zimmerman through Google Drive at email@example.com.
Your video should be labeled as followed - (First and Last Name) + (Class Auditioning for) + Audition Video. Example: John Smith Guitar Techniques 2 Audition Video.m4a
You may record each element of the audition separately, however, all videos must be combined and submitted as one file. It is recommended that you record everything in one take if possible. Please review your video before submitting.
