CSET Division: Collective Commitments
Curriculum – What we teach.
- We will develop rigorous and relevant curricula that are based on industry trends and meet the needs and interests of our students.
- We will use grading and reporting practices that focus on skill development and include a consistent model of feedback.
- We will develop and offer curricula that will allow adaptive pathways for students that provide skills and experiences within the entirety of CS, Engineering, and Technology.
- We will teach students to pose questions and to be strategic and adaptive problem solvers.
Equity, Race and Inclusivity – How we work with students.
- We will educate ourselves on our student's culture, academic, and linguistic differences in order to design differentiated instruction that celebrates diversity and ensures success.
- We will foster opportunities for students to form relationships between themselves and faculty by creating an environment where students feel safe, have sense of belonging, and honor each as an individual
- We will implement team interventions for students who might benefit from additional support.
- We will value and promote diversity through our own education and through our classroom practices.
Professional Learning Community – How we work and learn together.
- We will engage in data driven protocols to learn best practice, examine current practice, and analyze student learning to make informed collective decisions.
- We will pursue opportunities to grow, learn, and lead as educators by participating in internal staff development and external professional organizations.
Culture for Learning – How students should learn.
- We will use instructional strategies that engage students to take initiative, be innovative in their learning, and be willing to take academic risks.
- We will explicitly plan for and develop students' social-emotional competencies.
- We will teach students how to scrutinize evidence of their learning through self-reflection and peer feedback activities that promote and provide opportunities for students to demonstrate continued growth.
Community Engagement – How we work with the community.
- We will establish relationships within the community to provide authentic and innovative learning experiences for our students.
- We will commit to communicating with our families around students' learning experiences and work as partners to support learning growth.
- We will provide experiences to showcase our unique learning opportunities for the entire SHS community.
