Stevenson High School is one of 11 high schools in Illinois, and among 143 in the country, to receive a 2019-20 Distinguished School Award from the national Project Lead the Way program.

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is the leading provider of rigorous and innovative STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education across the U.S. The curriculum is project-based, and teaches students to look at problems from a new perspective.

This is the third straight year SHS has earned the honor, which is based on the number of PLTW curricular offerings available to students, the number of students engaged in PLTW, and student success in their PLTW course work.

Other Illinois high schools receiving the 2019-20 Distinguished School Award were:

  • Evanston Township
  • Fremd
  • Glenbrook South
  • Huntley
  • Metea Valley
  • Neuqua Valley
  • Oak Lawn
  • St. Charles East
  • Waubonsie Valley
  • Yorkville

Stevenson is one of four Illinois high schools to receive the honor in each of the last three school years, along with Fremd, Glenbrook South and Neuqua Valley.
