Stevenson’s boys swimming program earned All-America honors in four events in the annual National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association rankings. The rankings are the highest in program history.
2019 graduate Topher Stensby, who won his third straight 50-yard freestyle state championship, posted the eighth-fastest time in the nation (19.93 seconds) in that event during the 2018-19 season. Stensby, who will swim for the University of Notre Dame, is one of only three boys swimmers in state history to win the 50 freestyle three times. He also earned All-America honors in the 100-yard freestyle with his time of 44.31 seconds, which was 21st-fastest in the country.
Stensby also was an All-American in two relays. He was part of the 200-yard free relay team (pictured below) of Stensby and classmates Richard Lee, Max Ryaguzov and Joseph Song. Their time of 1:22.88 tied a foursome from Spring Lake High School in Spring Lake, Minn., for eighth-best. The Patriot quartet placed fourth at the 2019 state meet.
The 400 free relay team of Stensby and seniors Niccolo Comini, AJ Carollo and Jack Zhang had the 34th-fastest time in the nation (3:04.82). They were seventh in the state this year.
