Stevenson High School provides a comprehensive and challenging academic, athletic and co-curricular program to its students. In order to achieve this, the school recruits and develops highly talented, passionate and committed employees. Stevenson is situated on a modern, 76-acre campus; its students are served in a single building, divided into three houses. The school boasts state-of-the-art technology resources, athletic facilities and performing arts venues. Stevenson enjoys broad support from the north suburban Chicago communities it serves; its most recent referendum passed with a 70% majority. Each year, the school surveys graduating seniors on their experience at SHS and each year the students report high satisfaction with the school thanks in large part to the work of their teachers.

Salary and Benefits
Starting salaries for the 2019-20 school year will be:
- First year, BA: $55,360
- First year, MA: $62,003
- Four years, MA: $71,165
Stipends for first-year coaches range from $4,960 to $8,680; co-curricular stipends range from $1,654 to $6,634. Summer school faculty can earn up to $9,542 annually.
Stevenson employees enjoy a cafeteria benefits plan that allows them to select health insurance options that best suit their needs. Depending upon the choices one makes, it is possible to channel excess cafeteria monies into regular earnings. The District provides life, disability, dental and vision coverage as well. Employees can elect to participate in a tax-sheltered medical and child-care expense account and have an array of tax-sheltered savings programs available. Stevenson employees can take advantage of an on-site day-care center.
Stevenson provides new faculty with a mentor program. All new hires are matched with a mentor who helps guide the individual through the teacher's probationary years. Additionally, all faculty are members of at least two collaborative, curriculum area teams which allows them to benefit from the expertise of skilled team leaders. New teachers join a dynamic and accomplished faculty where more than 89.6% hold master's degrees and possess an average of 12.9 years of teaching experience. As a Stevenson teacher, you will work side by side with colleagues who have published textbooks, scholarly articles and have been recognized by state and national professional organizations.
The District encourages new faculty to pursue continuing education, offering a tuition reimbursement program and providing an annual stipend for completion of a doctoral degree. Additionally, Stevenson offers meaningful professional growth opportunities through an internal Master Teacher Program and recognition for National Board Teacher Certification; both allowing teachers to explore areas of professional interest while advancing themselves on the salary schedule. Teachers are equipped with laptop computers and iPads, and receive intensive training, all at the district's expense.
Ample opportunities exist at Stevenson for teachers to gain leadership experience. Dozens of team leaders and divisional core leaders receive focused training to help them discharge key responsibilities in managing the district's curriculum. The District fosters an entrepreneurial environment where teachers are encouraged to take risks and try new ideas and approaches.

To be considered for a student teaching assignment at Stevenson High School, the candidate or university must submit the following information:
- A written request from your student teaching/internship coordinator or school department specifying the subject area and requested dates of placement.
- Note: This request should be on university letterhead.
- A resume or curriculum vitae
- A transcript
- Any other supporting documents
