Stevenson High School's Theatre Department will present its 2011 winter production, The Sparrow
, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 18-19, in the West Auditorium. Admission is $5.
is a fable about an orphaned teenager, Emily Book, who returns to the town she once called home to finish her final year of high school--but this time, she's carrying a secret. An ordinary teenager with extraordinary abilities, Emily must embrace her supernatural powers and confront the truth about her past. The Sparrow had its world premiere in Chicago in 2007.
Nadia Schmidt will play the role of Emily Book. The rest of the cast includes
Alexxa Stiefel, Brady Richter, Stephanie Kerbis, Joseph Hirsh, Hallie Klieman, Leah Davis, Lizzie Docel, Jillian Warden, Rebecca Muller, Annie Levitz, Jessica Brand, Ryan McDonough, Hans Lee, Ari Craven, Michael Taylor, Jake Samson, Michelle Friman, Brandon Saposnik, Julia Trevor, Mythili Gopikanth, Al Katz-Mariani, Rebecca Ehrmann, Corissa Goodrich, Joshua Gurian and Allison Kipping.
Lauren Rawitz is the director. The rest of the production staff includes Aliceson Hackett-Rubel (costume designer); Stephen Carmody (scenery designer/technical direction/sound supervisor); Matthew Winstead (lighting designer); Alex Levy (light board operator); Ross Bessinger (sound board operator); Rachel Canter (assistant costumer); Megan Hovany (puppet designer); Ishita Bhama and Naomi Rawitz (student directors); David Wood (stage manager); Ross Bessinger (student sound designer); Tessa Kamp (prop master); Max Grossman, Kolin Jungmann and Trevor Osmond (video projector operators); and Michael Taylor (basketball coordinator). Ari Craven and Lizzie Docel are the primary choreographers, with individual dances choreographed by Corissa Goodrich, Lauren Rawitz, Rebecca Muller and Leah Davis. Members of the StageCrafters Club and the cast assisted with set construction and lighting.
