Sunit Jain Appointed to Board of Education
August 20, 2012

Sunit Jain, a business technology executive from Long Grove, has been appointed by the District 125 Board of Education to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Lori Lyman in July. He was selected from a group of eight candidates.
Jain received unanimous approval by the board at its August 20 meeting, and will serve the remainder of Lyman’s term, which expires in April 2013.
"I am passionate about education and am excited to have the opportunity to contribute to our school district," said Jain, who graduated from high school at age 16. "With three children going through our school system, two at Stevenson and one in sixth grade, I am excited to work with the board and our community of students, parents, teachers and administrators. With creativity, leadership and communication, we can work together to make the right decisions to keep Stevenson as one of the top institutions in the country. A community that takes pride, ownership and stays involved to work together can achieve outstanding results."
Jain, 46, is the co-founder of Ubiquity IQ, a software company focused on business analytics. Prior to starting his own company, Jain spent two decades in the information technology industry. He worked for AT&T/Lucent Technologies (now Alcatel), Sun Microsystems (now Oracle), and Forsythe Solutions. His accomplishments include turning around several businesses, expanding others, and generating more than $100 million in revenue for more than 50 clients.
In addition to his business career, Jain co-founded the SEED (Supporting Excellence in Education) Foundation, which recognizes service-oriented high school students who give back to their community. Since the SEED Foundation’s creation in 1998, it has distributed $185,000 to 34 students.
Jain earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Rutgers University, has a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University, and received a Master of Business Administration degree in international business, marketing and decision sciences from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He is married to Seema Jain, manager of multicultural markets at Marriott International.
"We are excited to have Sunit join our Board," said District 125 Board of Education President Bruce Lubin. "He will bring a refreshing perspective to our meetings and our district."
