Student Advances on "Jeopardy!"

Zach Blumenfeld on Tuesday qualified for the semifinals of the
"Jeopardy!" teen tournament. He will appear on the Monday, November 9 episode.
Blumenfeld easily defeated his two opponents even before the "final Jeopardy" question. The category was "Numbers and Letters," and the clue was: The world’s most common numerical system as well as its second-most common alphabet. Blumenfeld successfully answered "Arabic."
The junior "won" $51,999, but he won’t receive that much money. According to the Pioneer Press, the 15 students in the tournament are guaranteed $5,000 each, plus undisclosed benefits for those who advance to the semifinals and finals.
