Senior Selected to IHSA All-State Academic Team

Stevenson High School senior Zachary Blumenfeld is one of 26 students in Illinois chosen for the 2011 Illinois High School Association All-State Academic Team.
Nearly 500 nominations were received from IHSA member schools. Nominees needed to possess a minimum 3.50 grade point average on 4.0 scale after their seventh semester, have participated in at least two IHSA-sponsored activities during each of the last two years, and demonstrated outstanding citizenship. Blumenfeld is a member of Stevenson’s Scholastic Bowl and boys swimming and diving teams, both of which are sponsored by the IHSA. He also is part of the Model United Nations and National Honor Society.
Blumenfeld is only the third Stevenson student selected to the IHSA All-State Academic Team. Jared Frost earned the honor during the 2001-02 school year and Henry Wood was chosen in 2008-09. (Three other students have made the honorable mention team: Susan DeBourcy, 1999-00, Wenny Ng, 2002-03, and Alexander Service, 2006-07.)
The IHSA All-State Academic Team will be honored April 18 in Bloomington.
