Open House 2012

Each year, Stevenson High School holds Open House evenings for parents. These evenings provide faculty and staff with the opportunity to meet parents of SHS students, inform them about the curriculum in the courses their children are taking, and showcasing many of the resources offered to students and families of Stevenson High School.

In 2012, Open House nights are scheduled for Wednesday, August 29 (student last names A-L) and Thursday, September 6 (student last names M-Z). The hours each night are 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Parents who have a calendar conflict with the designated evening may attend on the other date. There is no need to inform the school of the change. All parents are encouraged to attend. Please note that we have scheduled late arrivals (classes beginning at 10:30 a.m.) for August 30 and September 7.

During Open House, parents will visit each of their student's classrooms and meet their child’s teachers. All parents will receive a letter from the school that includes a blank schedule for the evening, listing the times for each class period. Parents should have their students fill in his/her courses, room numbers, and teachers’ names prior to attending Open House. Parents may also choose to print their  student’s schedule via the Infinite Campus portal. Parents should bring this schedule with them.

Parents also will have the opportunity to hear presentations explaining the roles of guidance counselors, college and career counselors, deans, social workers, and Student Support Team (SST) coordinators from 6:30 to 7 p.m. All parents new to Stevenson are encouraged to attend.

Counselors also will stop by each of the freshman advisories.

Maps of the building will be provided at all main entrances to help parents navigate the school, or their student may pick up a map prior to Open House in Rooms 2400, 3046, or 6000. Students from the Freshman Mentor Program also will be stationed throughout the two buildings to help direct parents to any location.

Parking will be available on campus but it is limited. A map of all parking lots and instructions can be downloaded here. Parking is also available at the Quill Corporation parking lot just south of Route 22 on Schelter Road. The school will run shuttle buses to and from the Quill parking lots throughout the evening.
