Chicago-based artist Nick Cave will present his "Soundsuits," a multi-layered mixed-media, wearable sculptures named for the sounds made when the sculptures are worn. Cave’s "Soundsuits" have been exhibited internationally and covered in magazines such as Vogue and Newsweek. Frequently Asked Questions

How is the day structured?
Utilizing the late arrival schedule, buses will begin their routes at 9:20 a.m. The day begins at 10:15 and ends at 3:25 p.m. At 10:15, students will attend their Odyssey "homeroom," which is their normal second period (semester 2) class, where they will receive their schedule for the day. Each day consists of five 50-minute periods, including a 50-minute lunch. Some classes are double periods, and take two hours.

On the two days of Odyssey, there are no study halls, guided study or mentor classes. Students will not have access to the ILC, and the campus will be closed.

What kind of classes are there?
There are three kinds of classes: performances, exploration classes, and participation classes. Students will be in the audience for musical groups, comedy shows, and dance performances. Exploration classes consist of listening and learning about arts topics. In participation classes, students will be drawing, dancing, acting, and singing. For students who have prior experience in a particular area, there are Master Classes.

What will students see? What will they do?
There is something for everyone during Odyssey — from James Bond author Raymond Benson to salsa, hip-hop, belly dancing, or swing. In art classes, students will draw, paint, make jewelry, work on a potter's wheel or learn calligraphy. Students can drum in rhythm workshops, strum in guitar classes, or try conducting. Students may watch an improvisational comedy performance or take an improvisational workshop. Students may try stage combat, theatre games, or poetry. Some students will meet radio personalities or participate in Stevenson's first iPad band.
