October 2012 Visiting Artist of the Month

Mike White, a commercial photographer from Chicago, is the Stevenson High School Art Department’s Visiting Artist of the Month for October. White is regarded as one of the top model photographers in the city, and samples of his work are on display in the Rotunda Gallery in the West Building. He will visit the school to talk with students about his career and his portfolio during first and second periods on Friday, October 26.
White began exhibiting his work publicly at age 13, and in high school received three scholarships to the School of the Art Institute. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in visual communications. He has worked as a designer and art director for the past 20 years, while also doing freelance photography. Currently, White works with video and photography at Baxter Healthcare. His work is on display at Zhou B Art Center and other galleries.
