Prom-Going Instructions
Students attending the Prom on Saturday must arrive at Stevenson by 4:30 p.m. Coach buses depart at 5:30, and will arrive back at the school at 11. All participants must ride the coach buses to and from Prom. Details >>
Graduation Cap, Gown Pick-Up Day
Seniors have their one and only chance to pick up graduation caps and gowns on Tuesday. Seniors need to show their student ID or a valid driver’s license to pick up their order. Details >>
Fine Arts Frenzy Continues
The Fine Arts Division continues its frenetic pace of public shows next week. The Consortium Art Exhibit, featuring the work of more than 1,000 students in 17 schools, kicks things off on Monday, along with a recital by SHS guitar students. Tuesday brings the Band Awards Concert and the Improvisation Workshop, followed by the two-day ArtFest starting on Wednesday. Art lovers also are invited to stop by the Rotunda Gallery in the West Building to see a display by this month’s Visiting Artist of the Month.
Yearbook Distribution Next Week
Yearbook distribution will take place the week of May 21. Students who did not pre-order a yearbook can purchase one for $50 starting Wednesday. Details >>
The WIT Arrives Wednesday
The 2012 edition of the WIT, Stevenson’s award-winning student literary arts magazine, will be distributed beginning Wednesday. Those who pre-ordered the magazine will have it sent to the address they supplied on their order form. Details >>
Self-Defense Classes for Female Students
The Physical Welfare Division is sponsoring the Brave Way Self-Defense Program for all interested female students in grades 10-12 on Tuesday, May 29 and Thursday, May 31. Details >>
Fundraisers Feature Flowers, Pizza
Two fine arts parent organizations are having fundraisers over the next few days. The Band and Color Guard Parents Organization is holding its annual Didier Farms fundraiser this weekend, while the Choral Guild is having a fundraiser at the Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria in Buffalo Grove on Tuesday.
Heart-to-Heart Request for Help
The Max Schewitz Foundation, which provided free cardiac screenings for more than 2,500 Stevenson students last year, is asking parents to reciprocate by taking part in its annual fundraiser, MAXtravaganza. Details >>

Patriot Plaudits
The girls badminton team won a share of the IHSA state championship, its first title in more than 30 years of competition. Wan Wan Liu finished second in the singles competition. ... Seniors Vincent Fiorentini, Hannah Kay and Cheryl Liu have been named National Merit Scholars. ... SHS Principal Dr. John Carter has received two major honors for his work in mathematics education ... The boys and girls water polo teams won sectional championships and qualified for this weekend’s state tournament at Stevenson. ... Two National Honor Society-sponsored blood drives at the school have resulted in $2,000 donated for leukemia research. ... Arie Feltman-Frank finished fourth in horizontal bar at the boys gymnastics state finals. Jackie Setina and Kerrie Spaven qualified for the girls track and field state meet. The boys tennis team won its third straight conference title. The boys track and field team won four events at the conference meet. ... Five students earned honors at the LISA (Life Is Simply Art) Show Best of the Best Awards in Chicago.
