October 31, 2012
Five faculty members from the Stevenson High School Science Division will be giving presentations to peers at two conferences this week.
Brandi Argentar and Jill Lisius will be giving a talk on Thursday at the National Association of Biology Teachers conference in Dallas. They will discuss "Going Digital: Handling Collaborative Digital Assignments." Their talk is a featured session in the conference, which has the theme, "Technology in Texas." Lisius and Argentar will focus on using Google Documents for collaborative reports, Google Forms for collecting information, and Google Presentations for formal class presentations. They will be joined at the conference by Director of Science Steve Wood.
On Friday, Christine Pfaffinger, Jin Hwang and Mary Ragusa will discuss "Using eBooks in the Science Classroom" at the Illinois Science Educators Conference in Springfield. The trio will focus on how to use eBooks to increase student engagement, using a lab safety eBook they created for their chemistry classes.
