Science Olympiad Club

Eligibility Requirements
Team members must remain academically eligible (see Student Handbook).   Attendance at weekly meetings is mandatory.  For additional requirements, please see Dr. Carnazzola.

Time Commitment
2-3 hours per week from September through February or until the regional competition.  There is a large additional time requirement necessary to build equipment and prepare for exams and events.

Meets
Thursdays after school.
Room 1906.

Procedure for Joining
Attend the first meeting during the first regular week of school in the fall.

Description
The club spends September through February preparing to compete in the regional Science Olympiad in an attempt to advance to State and National competitions.  Activities include laboratory work, exams, Internet data gathering, and designing unusual devices that are created for each year’s unique events.  All events are tied to some aspect of science; physics, chemistry, biology, cartography, geology, and a host of other subjects.

Membership Limit
We have an open membership but the competition group is limited to 15 people.
