Eligibility Requirements
To be a Peer Buddy, you need to have a desire to work with others who have intellectual disabilities. Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required.
Time Commitment
One to two meetings per month before school, one to two outings per month, and weekly contact between Buddy Friends. It is a year long commitment.
Meets
Executive Board Meetings - Mondays before school in Room 7036.
Regular Meetings - Mondays after school in Room 5044.
Procedure For Joining
Formal application and interview process in September of each year.
Description
Best Buddies is a non-for-profit international program that enhances the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing 1-to-1 friendships. Students with disabilities (buddies) are paired up with students without disabilities (peer buddies) and friendships develop. Associate members do not get paired up, but are expected to attend all chapter meetings and outings.
