About the Clubs
About the Clubs
AASA
The Asian-American Student Association (AASA) of Stevenson High School works to foster a community that embraces and raises awareness about the Asian-American identity. Students explore what the Asian-American identity means today to combat subtle and overt anti-Asian discrimination in modern society.
FIRE
Fostering Inter-Cultural Respect and Empowerment Club (FIRE) promotes equality and respect among Stevenson students and staff through conversation and advocacy, and aims to educate our community and ourselves. As a club, FIRE informs policy change and provides a brave and safe space for dialogue. FIRE continuously educates themselves and the community of SHS students and faculty on the importance of racial inclusivity and the role it plays in our interconnected society.
LASO
Latin American Student Organization (LASO) is a club that works to create an environment for all students to explore the Latinx/Hispanic culture specifically within Stevenson. LHSA also allows members to openly converse about current events, pop culture and history in pertinence to the Latino/Hispanic community in a safe group setting. The club not only provides representation for all Latino/Hispanic students but extends opportunities for all students to have a better understanding of the Latino/Hispanic history and heritage. LHSA is dedicated to creating a strong community within Stevenson.
Peer Helpers
Peer Helpers are leaders who show great character, kindness and an openness and appreciation for others. They staff the Student Lounge, a safe place students go to talk, relax, obtain resources or eat their lunch. The program offers support for students by providing peer counseling and school wide campaigns.
Spanish Honor Society
The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish to recognize high school achievement in the course.
In the spirit of our mission, each year the SHH contributes more than $150,000 in awards to student members of the SHH. The most prestigious of the awards are college scholarships given to 60 high school senior SHH members and the Student Travel Awards given to 24 high school junior SHH members.
