Student Orientation 2010-11
Orientation is required for all Stevenson High School students.
SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS
Orientation will be conducted by class year. No bus service will be available during orientation for sophomores, juniors and seniors.
Orientation begins in Room 2104. Students must have their paid registration receipt to receive their student ID. Once students receive their ID, they will proceed to the West Auditorium for a presentation from the Assistant Principal for Operations and Program Support, and from the Deans. After attending the presentation, students will be directed to the West Learning Center to pick up their schedule and textbooks. Students will not be able to pick up textbooks until they have obtained their ID and attended the presentation given by the Assistant Principal for Operations and Program Support, and the Deans.
ORIENTATION SESSIONS:
8 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. (You may choose any one of these times on your scheduled day.)

ORIENTATION RECAP:
1) Student ID — Present paid registration receipt in Room 2104 to obtain student ID.
2) Assistant Principal/Deans Presentation — Bring ID to West Auditorium to attend the presentation.
3) Schedule/Textbook/Guidebook Pickup - After the presentation, proceed to the West Learning Center for schedule, textbook and Student Guidebook pickup.
4) Yearbook Pictures (Sophomores and Juniors only) — Please bring the VIP envelope that was sent to you directly from the yearbook photographer, along with your payment, to Orientation.
ALL TRANSFER STUDENTS (SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR AND SENIOR)
Tuesday, August 17, 8-11 a.m.
Transfer students should report to the Little Theater (Room 4200) at 8 a.m. Members of the Student Volunteer Program will be at this orientation to assist new students in finding classrooms, answering questions, etc. S.H.S. members will assist transfer students throughout the first week of school — introducing new students, meeting for lunch, etc.
FRESHMAN ORIENTATION
Wednesday, August 18, 8 a.m. - 3:25 p.m.
On Wednesday, August 18, we will provide a special all-day orientation for incoming freshmen.
Bus service will begin Wednesday, August 18 for freshman orientation. (Bus routes will be posted on the school's website as they become available.)
IMPORTANT NOTICES
The opening day of school is Thursday, August 19. Students must report to their first-hour class at 8:05 a.m. Final schedules are distributed during Orientation prior to the first day of school.
SCHEDULE CHANGES
Once students attend the mandatory orientation in August, the only permitted schedule changes must include the adding and/or dropping of a course. Schedule changes are permitted only if space is available. Remember: Having eighth period free is a senior privilege, and not available to underclassmen. Should you have questions, please call Student Services at 847-415-4500 or 4502. You also can email your question to counselors@d125.org. During the summer months, Student Services is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. A school counselor is available each day during office hours to work with students and families.
YEARBOOK PICTURES
Seniors: VIP Photography will mail postcards confirming the date and time of your sitting. Contact VIP at 847-499-9300 with questions, or to schedule or reschedule an appointment.
Juniors and Sophomores: Yearbook photographs will be taken at Orientation in the lower Sports Center lobby from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please bring the VIP Photography envelope that was mailed to your home, along with payment, to Orientation.
Freshmen: Yearbook photographs will be taken August 19-20 during Physical Education classes. Please bring the VIP Photography envelope that was mailed to your home, along with payment, to P.E. classes on August 19-20.
