Freshman Orientation Day
Freshman Orientation Day will be held Wednesday, August 18 from 8 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. to assist students in making the transition to Stevenson High School. Freshmen are asked to ride the bus on August 18. (Bus schedules will be posted on this page). Ninth-graders will meet their
Freshman Mentor Program student mentors (FMPs) on their bus; the mentors will be ready to answer questions even before the bus arrives at Stevenson. Students who walk to school will be greeted by FMPs as they enter SHS.
7:00-8:00 A.M.
When they arrive at the school, freshmen will report directly to the Sports Center
to receive their class schedules, locker information and identification cards (if their photo was taken during summer school).
8:00-9:00 A.M.
Freshmen will report to their Advisory classroom to meet with their faculty advisor and FMP student mentors. Students will receive their textbooks in Advisory.
9:15-10:15 A.M.
Welcome Class of 2014 assembly in the Sports Center.
10:30-11:15 A.M.
Return to Advisory classrooms for activities and tours of the building. Freshmen who did not have their ID card photos taken during summer school will have the pictures taken at this time in Room 2104.
11:30 A.M.-12:15 P.M.
Presentation in the Performing Arts Center by the deans, which will include introductions of students' Student Support Teams (SST). Each SST consists of an SST coordinator, a guidance counselor, a social worker and a dean.
12:15-1:00 P.M.
Lunch will be available for purchase in the cafeteria. Also, students who had ID photos taken during the morning may pick up their ID cards in Room 2104.
1:00-3:25 P.M.
Students will follow an abbreviated class schedule (see below), to meet their teachers and become familiar with the location of their classes. The last class will be dismissed at 3:25 p.m. Students should report to their bus after the end of eighth period; go to the area where the bus dropped them off in the morning. (Students who are being picked up by parents should meet them in lot D or E.)
Freshman yearbook photos will be taken during Physical Education classes on August 19.
