A World Of Difference

A World Of Difference is an anti-bias/diversity education program that helps students explore prejudice and bigotry; improve critical-thinking skills; examine diverse viewpoints; and take leadership roles. All freshmen participate in A World Of Difference on the afternoons of the Prairie State Achievement Examinations. (The schedule is listed below, as to which afternoon to stay. On the other afternoon, freshmen have an early dismissal.)

A World Of Difference 2012 will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 24-25, beginning at 12:45 p.m. each day in the Performing Arts Center. This year's program will once again feature nationally recognized motivational speaker Justin Boudreau. About 35 Stevenson faculty and staff are currently certified facilitators for the program and will be leading the small-group discussions. All senior Freshman Mentor Program (FMP) leaders will be assisting with their advisories. The following FMP Leaders have served as ambassadors for the A World Of Difference program for the 2011-12 school year: seniors Sydney Bauer, Dominic Belmonte, Jessica Brand, Mike Bruk, Cami Christopulos, Ari Craven, Austin Handler, Alison Jonesi, Leslie Luna, Kristina Modesto, Shahzadhi Nyakhar, John Park, Mindy Shore, Abby Simon, and Gloria Woo; and juniors Amy Andes, Ishita Bhama, Alissa Borowsky, Jack Cordes, Victoria Dobies, Melissa Engel, Emily Kaplan, Brian Harlan, Sarina Jain, Annie Keller, Jonah May, Scott Miller, Sammi Roth, Alyssa Sexner, Juliana Snarski, Josh Thariath, and Vivian Wang.
