Superintendent Dr. Eric Twadell
Dr. Eric Twadell became the sixth superintendent in the history of Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125 on July 1, 2007.
Dr. Twadell has been with Stevenson since 1993. He taught American Government, World History and World Religions classes for five years before becoming director of the Social Studies Division in 1998. As the head of Social Studies, Dr. Twadell helped develop the division into one of the country's finest. In 2005, Stevenson was recognized in a national report as one of 24 high schools in America that serve as an outstanding model for integrating excellence and ethics as part of its educational programs. The study,
Smart and Good High Schools, published by the State University of New York at Cortland, relied primarily on members of Stevenson’s Social Studies Division, led by Dr. Twadell, to help shape its view of how well the school is developing ethical values and character in its students.
Dr. Twadell also led a school-wide effort to develop and adopt courses with the College of Lake County that enables students to receive high school and college credit for courses taken while at Stevenson. He also oversaw a 300 percent increase in Advanced Placement exam participation by students taking social studies courses.
Prior to taking the reins as superintendent, Dr. Twadell served one year as assistant principal for organizational and leadership development.
