22 Musicians Earn IMEA All-District Honors

Twenty-two Stevenson High School musicians have been selected to Illinois Music Educators Association All-District ensembles. More than 1,000 students in northeastern Illinois auditioned. Eleven students were chosen for the All-District Orchestra, six for the All-District Choir, and five for the All-District Band. Nick Olson, who was selected for the All-District Choir, also was chosen for the All-District Vocal Jazz Ensemble. The SHS students who earned All-District status are:
Band: Miguel Carrazza (trumpet), Chang Yoon Doh (clarinet), Eric Hamilton (clarinet), Sara Lee (flute) and Akanksha Shah (trombone).
Choir: Ari Bakke (baritone), Mikey Barker (tenor), Nick Olson (bass), Adithi Rao (alto), Jamie Sergay (soprano) and Ellen Zhou (soprano).
Orchestra: Raymond Cao (cello), Jonathan Chang (viola), Eric Chang (cello), Janet Cheng (violin), Joshua Cheng (violin), Justin Doong (violin), Chis Gao (cello), Autumn Hoang (cello), Monet Lee (violin), Brian Lin (cello) and Jiyun Yu (cello).
The IMEA District Concert festival for band, choir and orchestra will be held at Glenbrook North High School on Saturday, November 10, with a public concert scheduled at 3 p.m. The IMEA Jazz Festival is Saturday, November 17 at Lake Zurich High School. The starting time has not been announced.
Students participating in the All-District festivals will be auditioning for the opportunity to perform at the IMEA All-State Conference in late January. Results for the all-state ensembles will be announced after the district festivals are complete.
